About
Trader’s Freight Lines was founded by Alexander Cammeron in 1855 to haul freight down the Santa Fe Trail to the towns and settlers along the Trail using oxen and horse drawn freight wagons. Over the years the freight service was handed down from father to son to grandson, Alex Cammeron. Amy Cammeron, daughter of Alex, took over the service when her father died and she married Thomas Collins in 1880. Later, they changed the name to Trader’s Old West Freight.
Eventually, the Railroads took over much of the overland freight service and Trader’s Old West Freight ended business and became a Mercantile Store North of Sante Fe, New Mexico around 1885. Through marriage, the business passed into the Workman family with Isaac Workman establishing his first store in 1900 in Orbisonia, PA and then The Village Store in Rockhill Furnace, PA in 1905.
Sadly, with the death of Isaac’s son, Edgar Workman, in 1998, The Village Store was sold out of the family. Members of the family have continued the Mercantile tradition with their Internet business in the Trader’s Gifts family web sites. We hope that you’ll join us as we bring great gifts from all over the Internet at some of the best prices around. Sure we can’t compete with the likes of Wal-Mart, Sam’s and Costco, however, we do bring you these selections at your finger tips and we also deliver direct to your door.
Thanks for stopping by.
Regards,
The Trader’s Gifts Family
